Mountain Reservations, which says it's "the industry leader in vacation rentals and lodging for Mountain Destinations around the world", has identified some interesting places you may want to stay in their "Top 10 Humongous Homes" and "Top 10 Unique Roosts" lists.
Always wanted to see what it's like to live in a 6,000 sq ft home with 7 bedrooms? How about a lodge in Vermont that is owned by the Trapp family (inspiration for the Sound of Music)? Or an octagon lodge in Chile? All of them are near great places to ski.
